Sewing Mamas (.com) is encouraging its members to sew for charity by hosting an "east/west" content. The contest is just for fun, just to add incentive. So I've joined in. One of the charities listed on the website is ConKerr Cancer, an organization devoted to providing kids who are battling cancer with pillow cases that are fun and comforting. Even with my limited sewing time, I find that I can make pillowcases to donate. I just found out about the organization and I've already made one. So I want to share this with you all. If you sew, these are very easy to put together. The instructions are on the website. There are loads of drop-off locations around the country, and they're listed on the website. If you don't sew, it's easy to help out in other ways. Donate some fabric. Donate money. Help collection sites to organize the pillowcase for distribution. Become a coordinator for your area. And so on. I have offered, though Facebook, to sew up any fabric given to me, and have already gotten one donation. Seems so easy to give in this way.
